DAMAGING PIPELINES

DAMAGING NATURAL GAS PIPELINES IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

UniGas has a large gas distribution pipeline system in the following counties:

  • Bexar
  • Chambers
  • Collin
  • Comal
  • Denton
  • Galveston
  • Grimes
  • Guadalupe
  • Harris
  • Hays
  • Kendall
  • Liberty
  • Montgomery
  • Tarrant
  • Walker

THE #1 CAUSE OF PIPELINE DAMAGE IS FAILURE TO CALL TO HAVE BURIED LINES MARKED.

UniGas places pipeline markers along its pipeline routes.

TEXAS LAW REQUIRES YOU TO CALL TO HAVE BURIED LINES MARKED AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE STARTING ANY DIGGING, BORING OR TRENCHING.

The number to call is: 811 - check call811.com for more information.

Did you know?

  • There is no charge for marking lines.
  • You are liable for ALL damages and repair costs that result from
damaging a gas pipeline if you fail to have it marked.
  • REMEMBER: Always assume there are buried lines present, even
    when there are no markers.
  • Never rely solely on the location of pipeline markers.

If you damage a UniGas pipeline:

  • Immediately shut-off and abandon all equipment.
  • Stay at least 100 feet away from the damaged line.
  • Call UniGas’ Emergency Line at 1-800-925-0705 immediately.
  • If there is a large amount of gas escaping or if it catches fire,
    call 911 immediately.
  • Do NOT try to put out a natural gas fire.

NEVER SHUT OFF PIPELINE VALVES
(this could make matters much more dangerous).
